How to set up QR code ordering in a restaurant
In short: add your menu, create one QR code per table, print the codes, place one test order from your own phone, then show staff where new orders appear. Diners need only a phone camera and a browser, with no app to install.
1. Prepare your menu
Group dishes into categories and check every price. Mark what is sold out, so diners cannot order it.
2. Create your tables
Name tables the way your staff already say them. In Celstix, go to Tables & QR and add each table. Each table gets its own code, so orders arrive with the table already known.
3. Print the QR codes
Celstix can print a folded table card or let you download the code. Print one, then scan it from a metre away in your dining light before printing the rest.
4. Place a test order
Scan the code on your own phone and order one item. Check that the order appears on the live orders screen and that a kitchen ticket prints.
5. Decide how guests pay
Most small restaurants let guests order by QR and pay at the counter. That is how the free Celstix core works. Paying from the phone needs a payment gateway, an optional paid integration.
6. Train staff in ten minutes
Show where new orders appear, how to add items for a guest and how to print the bill. Keep a few paper menus for guests who prefer them.
Common problems
- The code does not scan: print it larger and away from glare.
- Staff miss new orders: keep the live orders screen open on one device.
- You do not want QR ordering: Celstix lets you switch it off and take orders through staff instead.
Run it all from one place.
